Tubs and Sinks

When it comes to choosing tubs and sinks for a home renovation, remodel, or new construction, there are as many styles as there are choices from which to make the final decision.  From the traditional to the modern styles, there is sure to be one that stands out from among the rest as the perfect match for the homeowner’s bathroom or kitchen.

In a home, tubs and sinks may be found in different areas throughout the house.  Some people have basins in the laundry room, kitchen, double basins in the bathroom, and some also include basins in the basement and on the patio.  Where the basins will be placed is a very important piece of information to know when making the choice of what type of basin to choose.  Basins are available in porcelain, stainless steel, stone, plastic, metal, copper, glass, granite, and marble to name a few.

Tubs and sinks are sometimes available in cast iron, such as a claw footed bathing vessel.  These are older, and they stand alone, suspended upon legs.  These are found in many older homes, but some people want to include them in renovations and even new construction.  Pedestal basins are also available in many types of materials.  These basins work just like those attached to the wall only they are connected through the bottom, and they stand without the support of a wall.

Tubs and sinks can also include a Jacuzzi which offers jets of water inside.  There are also those that are integrated with the shower and the bathing area being an all in one unit.  This is something that is done when there is a space issue, and there is a need to have both a bathing vessel and a shower in the bathroom.  There are also choices for bathing vessels such as those that feature under mount faucets which feature the faucets coming from the bathing vessel itself or over mount faucets which are erected above and separate from the bathing vessel.  These types of faucets are available for basins as well.

Tubs and sinks can be anything from the traditional to the very modernistic.  The choice should be made so that it corresponds with the other areas of the home such as the kitchen.  This will allow for a proper and stylish flow to be created from one room to the next.  Antique versions of both can be purchased from many resell stores that are in the business of supplying the older models that aren’t available on the market today.  This is perfect for a home renovation that is restoring the home back to its original era or time period.

Many suppliers and stores have many of these basins and bathing vessels as well as shower options on display.  Before making a final choice, it is wise to comparison shop to see what is available and what is affordable.  As always, it is best to consult a professional and ask them to do the installation so that it is done properly.
